Key Statistics

Research and Sponsored Programs is currently defining those performance indicators expected to reveal the strengths and weaknesses that suggest alternative goals and objectives for future improvement. Below are the key performance indicators now in place. New benchmarks will be added as they are developed and implemented. Updates for the past fiscal year will be added soon after the DCU reports are published.

NUMBER OF FACULTY

Measure: The total number of FTE faculty employed

Desired Direction: Up

Definition(s): FTE = full-time equivalent

Measure: The ratio of the total amount of dollars expended on sponsored research programs and projects under research, service and training contracts and grants to the number of FTE faculty

Performance Indicator 6

TOTAL F&A COSTS RECOVERED

Measure: The amount of indirect costs recovered.

Desired Direction: Equal to the amount of indirect costs identified

Definition(s): Facilities and Administrative (Costs (also know as indirect costs) are those that are incurred for common or joint objectives, and therefore cannot be identified readily and specifically with a particular sponsored project. These costs can have a significant impact on an operational budget when not recovered.
